Jeff Coakley(Chair)

Mr. Coakley has lived in Kohala for 47 years, currently residing in Kapaʻau. Mr. Coakley Graduated from the Kamehameha School for Boys. He is a real estate broker, and is also currently working as a Sr. pool lifeguard. He is active in the community and has served as past President of the North Kohala Hawai‘i Civic Club, past President of the North Kohala Jaycees, and past President and Vice President of the Kohala Community Association. As a part of his work with the North Kohala community, Mr. Coakley created the first agricultural park for Kohala farmers, helped to secure community access to Kapanaiʻa Bay and Hapuʻu Bay as well as easements to Queen’s Bath and various hunting areas. He has also worked extensively with the youth of Kohala as a cultural conservation instructor as well as a swim and soccer coach. His goal as an Action Committee member is to find the delicate balance between economic progress for the community while keeping Kohala, Kohala. |
Steve Hoffmann (Vice-Chair) |
Mr. Hoffmann is a retired electric utility executive and currently farms macadamia nuts in Kohala. He is active with the North Kohala Lions Club and is on the Board of Directors for the Kohala Science Foundation.

Chris Cackley |
Mr. Cackley is a 33 year resident of the Big Island, currently residing in Hāwī. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Cackley worked for the County of Hawaii Department of Parks and Recreation for 27 years. He has been immersed in community dynamics for many years and has served time on several community boards in Kohala including the Kohala International Center Board, Kohala Natural Healing Arts Board, and the Kohala Community Athletic Association Board. |

Jack Olson |
Mr. Olson is a 4+ year resident of Kohala, currently residing in Kapa’au. Mr. Olson retired from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources where he worked as a natural resource planner for over 30 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology from the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay and a Master’s of Science degree in Forestry from the University of Minnesota in St. Paul. |
