Special Use Permit Applications

This folder contains Special Use Permit Applicatiions submitted to the Planning Department for development projects in the Puna CDP planning area. Written comments on these applications may be submitted to the Planning Director and/or the Windward Planning Commission by the noted date for each application. Written comments should be mailed to: BJ Leithead Todd, Director, Hawaii County Planning Department, 101 Pauahi St., Ste. 3, Hilo, Hawaii 96720 or emailed to planning@co.hawaii.hi.us. Oral public testimony on an application before the Windward Planning Commission may be given at the meeting of the Commission the application is included on the agenda. The Windward Planning Commission agendas are posted online at http://co.hawaii.hi.us/planning/commission/main.htm. Written comments to the Planning Director on this application should be submitted to the Planning Department by May 9, 2011.

Folder Yamada SPP 11-117
This folder contains the application for a Special Use Permit submitted by Gerald and Wendy Yamada to allow for the development of a supermarket & small commercial personal services development project on the NW corner of Auli'i Drive and Highway 130. Other related documents will also be posted here as they become available. The 121 page applicton has been divided up into four separate files to facilitate quicker downloading.
File 1st Church of Religious Science SPP 770 Amendment
This request is for an amendment to Special Use Permit No. 770, which was approved on February 21, 1991, to allow for the continuation of a pre-school and day care center on the subject property in Hawaiian Paradise Park by Malamalama Schools, Inc. This amendment seeks approvals for a different use, hours of operation and the construction of addtional facilities. Written comments for the Planning Director should be submitted to the Planning Department by May 9, 2011.
File Ishikawa SPP 10-103 Amendment
Special Use Permit No. 10-103 was approved by the Windward Planning Commission on August 12, 2010 to allow for the use of a portion of a single family residence in Ainaloa subdivision as an artist studio. This application is to amend the amount of floor space in the house used for the artist studio. Written comments to the Planning Director should be submitted to the Planning Department by May 16, 2011.
File Verizon Wireless Use Application
Verizon Wireless has submitted an Use Permit Application for the construction of a new monopole in Kapoho for the expansion of their wireless network coverage area.
