Development Activities in Puna

Inside this folder you will find links to the Board of Appeals, Planning Commission and County Council pages of the Hawaii County website where their respective meeting agendas can be accessed. These agendas are also published in the Hawaii Tribune Herald and West Hawaii Today under State/County Notices at the beginning of the Classifieds Section. Also posted in this section are new subdivision applications accepted by the Planning Department for properties in the Puna CDP planning area. Notice of new subdivision applications are published semi-monthly, but only those notices that include an application for lands within the Puna CDP planning area are posted here.

Link Planning Commission
This link will take you to the page on the Hawaii County website where you can access the agendas, minutes, reports on actions taken and meeting transcripts for the Windward and Leeward Planning Commissions.

This link will take you to the page on the Hawaii County website where you can acces the agendas, meeting minutes and transcripts for the Hawaii County Board of Appeals.
Folder Subdivision Applications
This folder contains those bi-weekly reports that include any new applications acceoted by the Planning Department for subdivision and/or consolidation of lands within the Puna CDP planning area. Bi-weekly reports that do not include any subdivision applications within the Puna CDP project area are not posted here.
Folder Variance Applications
This folder contains notices of Variance Applications from the requirements of Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) and Chapter 23 (Subdivision Code) of the Hawaii County Code. These notices are published at irregular intervals and notification of a new posting may not always be timely. Applications for properties in Puna are highlighted in yellow.
Folder Special Use Permit Applications
This folder contains Special Use Permit Applicatiions submitted to the Planning Department for development projects in the Puna CDP planning area. Written comments on these applications may be submitted to the Planning Director and/or the Windward Planning Commission by the noted date for each application. Written comments should be mailed to: BJ Leithead Todd, Director, Hawaii County Planning Department, 101 Pauahi St., Ste. 3, Hilo, Hawaii 96720 or emailed to planning@co.hawaii.hi.us. Oral public testimony on an application before the Windward Planning Commission may be given at the meeting of the Commission the application is included on the agenda. The Windward Planning Commission agendas are posted online at http://co.hawaii.hi.us/planning/commission/main.htm. Written comments to the Planning Director on this application should be submitted to the Planning Department by May 9, 2011.
Folder Change of Zone Applications
This folder contains applications submitted to the Planning Department for a chang of zone for lands in the Puna CDP planning area. A public hearing on a Change of Zone application is conducted by the Windward Planning Commission, which votes on a recommendation to the Hawaii County Council for approval or denial. Public comments may be submitted to the Planning Director and/or the Windward Planning Commisison for consideration in making their respective recommendations. Written comments to the Planning Director should be submitted to the Planning Department by the date noted on each application posting.
