At the end of June, 2010, PBR Hawaii & Associates, Inc. was selected to serve as the prime consultant for the Hāmākua CDP. PBR Hawaii & Associates, Inc. is a planning and landscape architecture firm based in Hawaii for nearly 40 years. With branch offices in Hilo and Kapolei and an affiliate office in California, PBR Hawaii engages in a variety of projects ranging from specific site designs to regional and community plans, urban design studies, and large scale resource inventory and land management projects. The Managing Director of the Hilo Office, Roy Takemoto, will oversee PBR's role in this project. As a former Deputy Planning Director and assistant to Mayor Kim, and through his work with PBR, Roy has experience with several previous Hawaii Community Development Plans. PBR Hawaii and Associates, Inc. responsibilities are outlined in detail in the consultant scope of work below.
